- Real-estate cultural heritage
- Movable cultural heritage
- Archives
The Directorate for Cultural Heritage performs administrative tasks in the area of cultural heritage, monitors the development of the complete system on the protection of cultural heritage, prepares system solutions on the protection of heritage, manages the register, and ensures the development of an information system and the documenting of the cultural heritage. In the Directorate the following group tasks are performed:
- preparation of expert groundwork and regulations as well as monitoring domestic and European legislation falling within the working areas of the Directorate,
- monitoring viewpoints on the development falling within the working areas of the Directorate,
- cooperation with domestic and international governmental and non-governmental expert organisations, associations and with their working and expert bodies as well as with individuals.
- cooperation with other domestic organisational units of the Ministry and with domestic and international bodies within the framework of group projects,
- preparation of groundwork materials debated by the government of the Republic of Slovenia and the parliament of the Republic of Slovenia and by the working and advisory bodies of the European Commission and the European Council as well as the preparation of opinions for such groundwork materials,
- development and harmonisation of developmental projects, measures and criteria for co-financing cultural programmes and projects as well as commenting on analysis, information and reports prepared by the responsible internal organisational units,
- cooperation with the administrative bodies of state public institutions and public funds and in project groups regarding substantive questions on investment projects,
- preparation of proposals for annual and long-term plans on co-financing cultural programmes and projects as well as financial matters in project management,
- covering European culture-intended programmes falling within the working area, and the execution of procedures and monitoring projects connected to financing from the European structural funds,
- participation in projects and regionalism viewpoints as well as monitoring their effects,
- conducting acts of administrative procedure,
- simultaneous and periodical evaluation of the intended lawful, economical, effective and suitable use of public funds for the areas concerned,
- management of prescribed record-keeping, cooperation in the development of joint databases, and communication with the public according to prescribed internal rules.
In the Directorate the following special tasks are performed:
- developing and executing the policy and the strategy on the protection of cultural heritage,
- preservation and development of cultural diversity of Slovenia with the protection of cultural heritage,
- inclusion of the heritage in the economic development as an incentive for an enduring development and quality of life,
- increasing both the identification and educational potentials of cultural heritage,
- monitoring and executing the international treaty provisions within the area of cultural heritage protection,
- ensuring operation and supervision of the execution of public service programmes as well as their employees, carried out by the staff members of other activities on protections executed pursuant to permissions and concessions,
- coordinating and ensuring the protection of cultural heritage in space,
- protection of the heritage system against natural and other disasters and against eventual armed attack,
- managing cultural memorials that have, pursuant to the Act on the Privatization of Monuments in Social Ownership, passed into state ownership in accordance with the regulation that provides for the management of physical state assets,
- coordinating education, developing expert examination and awarding expert titles,
- issuing permits for the export and exit of cultural heritage objects,
- issuing permits for exemptions on import duties,
- issuing opinions on enforcing pre-emptive state rights on state memorials,
- informing the public on the content, the meaning and the role of cultural heritage protection,
- ensuring accessibility to complete information on cultural heritage,
- preparing administrative procedure decisions issued at the second level on the legal remedies against the administrative decisions issued by the Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia for Culture and Media and by the Archive of the Republic of Slovenia in the area of cultural heritage.
