ABOUT THE DIGITAL ARCHIVE

SUBMISSION INFORMATION PACKAGE (SIP)

SIP is an information package that is delivered by the producer for ingest of his digital archival records into archives in accordance with the instructions issued by the responsible archival institution.

SIP CREATOR TOOL

The use of this tool enables the producer to create SIP and verify that such SIP meets the requirements stated in the submission agreement between the producer and the responsible archival institution. During the process of submitting the records, archival institution checks their usability before their further processing, i. e. before they are ingested into digital repository. Currently, producers can use the tool to create and transfer SIP with:

- Unstructured data – the contents of one or more folders in a file system

- Data from relational databases

- Data from ERMS

SAFE STORAGE

Archival information system (AIS) enables storage of digital archival records in the form of archival information packages (AIP). Digital repository management software is employed to preserve digital records by protecting the records' integrity, accessibility, usability and authenticity.

DISSEMINATION INFORMATION PACKAGE (DIP)

DIP is delivered in response to a user’s request to the archives.  It may derive from one or more AIPs. Users can access DIP by means of DIP Viewer which is a tool provided by archival institution.

DIP EDITING TOOL AND VIEWER

Using the search query on archival website, user first finds records he wishes to access and submits his request for their use. After exporting the records from digital repository, it is verified that DIP corresponds to the user’s request and his access rights. The verified DIP is then made accessible in the archival reading room.
